BrainWorking Recursive Therapy in Hinckley

What Is BWRT® (BrainWorking Recursive Therapy®)?

BWRT® (BrainWorking Recursive Therapy®) is a modern, fast-acting form of psychological therapy that is becoming increasingly recognised for its ability to create change quickly and gently.

I offer BWRT® sessions in Hinckley, Leicestershire, as well as online. BWRT is particularly well suited to online work, as the process is focused and does not rely on physical presence. Many clients find they feel even more relaxed working from their own familiar environment.

Unlike traditional approaches, which may involve long-term counselling or revisiting painful memories, BWRT works with the brain’s automatic response patterns that drive unwanted emotional and behavioural reactions. This means change can often happen without the need to relive past trauma.

One of the reasons BWRT is growing in popularity is its speed. Many people notice significant shifts in just one or two sessions. By helping the brain update old patterns, BWRT can reduce the intensity of difficult emotional responses and help previously overwhelming memories feel more neutral and manageable. This may bring relief from issues such as fear, anxiety, jealousy, anger, guilt, and unresolved grief.

Clients often describe BWRT as gentle yet powerful, as though the emotional charge behind a problem has simply faded. While no therapy can promise results for everyone, many people find BWRT helps them move forward feeling calmer, clearer, and more in control.

Because BWRT can often create rapid and lasting change, many people now turn to it as an effective alternative to traditional talking therapies. For some, it offers the opportunity to move forward with greater confidence, clarity, and emotional freedom, often in less time than they expected.

How BWRT® Works

BWRT® (BrainWorking Recursive Therapy®) is a structured, neuroscience-based approach that works with the brain’s rapid, automatic processing. It focuses on the tiny gap between an event occurring and your conscious awareness of it — the moment where the brain has already begun to trigger a response before you have time to think.

This is why you can “know” something is safe, yet still feel anxious, afraid, or overwhelmed. The response has already been set in motion by the brain’s learned patterns.

As an Advanced BWRT Practitioner, I use this method to help interrupt and update those automatic responses. Rather than analysing the past in detail, BWRT works directly with the brain’s pattern-matching system — the part that quickly links current situations with previous experiences and reacts accordingly.

During the process, you may briefly bring a situation or memory to mind, but there is no need to describe it in detail or relive it. The work takes place at the level of the brain’s immediate response, allowing the old pattern to be interrupted and a new, more appropriate response to be put in place.

For example, if the brain has learned an association such as “spiders = danger”, BWRT helps change that automatic link. Once the pattern is updated, the brain naturally begins to respond in a calmer, more balanced way.

Because BWRT works at this early stage of processing — before the emotional reaction fully develops — the change often feels smooth, logical, and natural.

Clients often describe BWRT as clear, focused, and different from traditional talking therapies. It is a forward-focused approach that helps the brain update the patterns shaping your thoughts, feelings, and reactions, so you can respond to life with greater ease and control.

Terence Watts - Developer of this System

BWRT® works in a way that greatly reduces, or eliminates entirely, the negative response we might feel surrounding past events in our life.  These events could be relating to any trauma or upset and, in fact, anything that causes us a problem can be changed by this method of working.

‘BWRT® stands for ‘BrainWorking Recursive Therapy’™, a model of psychology and psychotherapy created by UK professional therapist, Terence Watts, MCGI. Unlike many other modern therapies, it allows a ‘core of privacy’™ so that you do not have to divulge anything you would rather not talk about.  In fact, the practitioner only needs to know how you feel and how you would prefer to feel instead.

BWRT® is a completely new and different therapy based on the latest discoveries about the way the brain works and how it affects our moods, behaviour and emotions.

Only Certified Practitioners have been trained to deliver BWRT® and all have to adhere to a strict ethical code.  You can find out more at http://www.bwrt.org.
